    A good friend of mine flew the A-6 with VMA(AW)224 while aboard the USS Coral Sea off Vietnam, c. 1971. He passed away several years ago. I wonder if the VMA(AW)224 A-6A in that photo is in the same paint scheme and markings as those aboard the USS Coral Sea in ‘71.

    VMA(AW)224 used a different tail scheme than that shown in the photos you have posted. I have a couple of photos of the aircraft. Also have Lou Drendal’s painting of the “224″ A-6A. Hope this is of use. Cheers,Mike C
